Beginning Photoshop CS4 Tutorial

Here is an introductory Photoshop CS4 Tutorial, hosted by Hillsborough Community College. This Photoshop tutorial provides step-by-step details for getting started using Photoshop, how to use the interface, and how to modify images. Getting Started

Introduction to the Editor 
Learn how to start Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 and view a brief overview of the Editor screen.
Access Photos Already Saved on Your Computer
Use Photoshop Elements to access a picture that is already saved on your computer and then save it with a new file name.

The Zoom Tool
It is easy to change which portion of a picture you are looking at by using the Zoom Tool.  You can zoom in to see details of a smaller section of the image or zoom out to see more of the image.

Crop or Resize an Image

Resize a Picture
Easily change the size of a picture to make it fit the area where you are going to use it.

Cropping Photos
Cropping allows you to remove distracting background elements and focus in on the target of your photo by selecting the part of the photo you want to keep and deleting everything else.

Using the Elliptical Marquee Tool
The Elliptical Marquee Tool allows you to select a round or oval section of an image.  Learn how to select a section, remove the image outside the selection, and then save the image.

The Lasso Tool can be used to select areas of an image that have an irregular shape.
