Flash MX Ebook

Using the features and power of Flash MX, you can create animated logos, Web site navigation controls, animations, entire Flash Web sites, or Web applications. Flash movies on your web site can include graphics, text, animation, and entire applications. They can also provide interactivity so your users enjoy their experiences and return later. Because Flash files mainly contain vector graphics, they are easily downloaded and scale nicely to the user's screen size. However, these files also can contain imported video, bitmap graphics, and sounds.

This Flash MX Ebook reviews and discusses many of the features and functionality available in Flash MX. It also teaches you all of the new features that were made available with this release of Flash, listed below. This Flash ebook has a file size of 8119kb, is 438 pages in length, and is in pdf format.

New features introduced by Flash MX:

  • Timeline enhancements such as folders for organizing layers, improved pointer feedback, and the  ability to resize, cut, and paste multiple frames. See “Using the Timeline” on page 28.
  • Enhanced editing of symbols in place so you can work on symbols in the context of your movies. See “Editing symbols” on page 157.
  • Library improvements eliminate production bottlenecks by simplifying the creation and manipulation of library symbols.
  • Shared library assets improve Flash movie authoring by letting you share library assets with other Flash documents.
  • The most commonly used features now appear in one context-sensitive Property inspector, eliminating the need to access many other windows, panels,
  • and dialog boxes.
  • New starter templates are now included with Flash MX, making the creation of new documents easier.
  • Improvements to the Color Mixer simplify the creation, editing, and usage of colors and gradients.
  • Enhanced scripting and debugging tools, built-in code reference, and predefined components you can use to rapidly develop rich Web applications.
  • Reusable drag-and-drop interface elements for Flash content, such as list boxes, radio buttons, and scroll bars.
  • The object model integrates movie clips, buttons, and text fields into the ActionScript object-oriented scripting language.
  • The Live Preview feature for components makes it possible to actively view changes in user interface components within the authoring environment.
  • Enhanced text support allows for detailed control using ActionScript over every property of a text object, including its formatting, size, and layout.
